Create a Price File
To create a new Price File:
- Open the Documents Explorer. Right-click on any Price File and select New > Price.
- The Create New Price Document window will be displayed.
- Enter the name of the new Price File. The maximum length is 50 characters. Names must begin with an alphabetical or numerical character and cannot contain = \ ; : * <> / @ ? | “ +.
- Select the product to which the price will apply.
- Select whether it’s the product price or a price by weight (or energy for gas).
- Specify document properties (if any).
- Click OK and the new Price File will appear on the list in the Documents Explorer. Price Files have scenarios; when you create a Price File, the default scenario will be automatically added to it and opened in Excel. Now you need to link prices to the scenario (see Link a price to a price scenario).
Note: Price Files are created with the default price scenario. To select the default scenario, go to Tools > Options (see Scenarios).
- If this is the first price in the current scenario, you need to specify price settings. On the Palantir tab on the ribbon, click on
to open the Price Settings window. Specify Start Year, Duration and Inflation Date for the price, and click OK. The inflation date determines when inflation rates begin to apply; the rates are taken from currency settings (see Currency).
Important: these settings apply to all prices included into the current scenario.
- Unit system and periodicity on the Palantir tab should be selected before any prices are entered: switching between different options will change the whole structure of the document which can have unintended consequences if prices are derived with the help of formulas.
- Once you have finished with the settings, you can link price ranges and specify prices (see Link a price to a price scenario).
